The RoSE Communications team managed to get some of Conference Chair Andrew Pua’s time to ask him some questions about what we can look forward to at the RoSE E-Conference this July 31st, 2025! 

Interview has been lightly edited for clarity.

RoSE Comms: What are you most looking forward to at RoSE 2025?
AP: I look forward to every conference participant (audience or presenter) having a lot of fun, learning a lot of new stuff (or seeing old stuff in a new light), and having the energy to really connect and follow through on those connections!

RoSE Comms: What has been the most fun or exciting part of organizing RoSE 2025?
AP: For me, it is getting a "YES" response when I make requests. A close second is things somehow falling into place, as if via an invisible hand (this is the economist in me talking).

RoSE Comms: Why has RoSE chosen to offer a free, online conference for statistics education researchers? 

AP: I was not able to attend the first ever RoSE eConference. I joined a while after and I actually just stumbled upon the network through the IASE 2023 Virtual Conference. My main motivation for volunteering was that conferences should be as hybrid as possible, and involve more contributions from smaller developing countries. RoSE is also a very young organization, so there are spaces for "unfiltered" learning and experimentation. The leadership and membership of RoSE actively pursues diversity, equity, and inclusion -- whether it be for our conferences, for webinars, or even our regular meetings. We strive towards accessibility, even if pursuing these ideals could be costly.

RoSE Comms: Is there any other message you want to pass on to potential attendees?

AP: I hope you could join us for the conference and I hope you could block off time to really engage with our presenters! They are sharing the fruits of their work and we want them to have a willing, listening, and active audience.
